The issue of corporal punishment has once again grasped the attention of the public after a video went viral depicting a mother repeatedly hitting her 12-year-old daughter with a belt.

The debate on corporal punishment is still ablaze and the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago is facilitating a space for this issue to be weighed in democratic discussion.
