Mr. Avinash Singh was first appointed as an Opposition Senator in December, 2013. He entered national politics when he was selected as the candidate for the People’s National Movement for the Chaguanas West bye-election held on the 29th of July 2013.
 
Mr. Singh is a farmer and agricultural consultant by Profession.  He is the holder of a Bachelor of Science Degree majoring in Environmental and Natural Resource Management and in Agricultural Science from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine. In addition, he represented Trinidad and Tobago and the Agricultural Society of Trinidad and Tobago on various workshops and seminars regionally.

Mr. Singh is the Vice-President of the Felicity Farmers Association, Vice-President of Operations for the Heliconia Foundation for Young Professionals and a Member of the Caribbean Farmers Network.
