Mrs. Carolyn Seepersad-Bachan was first elected to the House of Representatives on May 24, 2010, representing the constituency of San Fernando West as a Member of the People's Partnership. She was appointed Minister of Energy and Energy Affairs on May 28, 2010. Between 2002 and 2006, Mrs. Seepersad-Bachan served as an Opposition Senator.
Mrs. Seepersad Bachan has Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Engineering. She has worked as a lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering at the University of the West Indies and is a former Chairperson of the National Petroleum Marketing Company.
